Starting on 13th April 2016, Zipcar will extend its use of vehicle telematics.

Vehicle telematics are increasingly common in the automotive sector and enable companies like Zipcar to understand better how vehicles are being used, ultimately leading to better service availability for members. Vehicle telematics can provide information such as: speed, acceleration, deceleration and direction of travel. This is extremely useful, if vehicles are stolen or involved in an accident. Stolen vehicles can be recovered swiftly, accidents can be prevented and insurance claims settled based on facts. In addition, at an anonymous and aggregated level, insight can be obtained about Zipcar usage overall.
