What is Zipcar?

Zipcar is the world's largest pay-as-you-go car sharing network, with over 1,500 vehicles in the UK.  You can book our vehicles from one hour to a whole day or even a week, so you only pay for what you need.  Our cars and vans are located in on-street bays near your home and work, providing quick and easy access so you avoid the cost, time and hassle of owning and parking your own.
 
How do Kingston Council employees use Zipcar?
 
Kingston Council have set up a Zipcar account for employees to register on and use for work purposes. Reservations can be made for as little as 1 hour and we have a range of cars and vans to suit all needs.
 
Where are these vehicles?
 
They couldn’t be closer! From your Guildhall, your nearest vehicles are less than a 3 min walk away, on The Bittoms. Find your nearest one from any location here.  
 
Which vehicles are available?
 
We have a range of vehicles to suit all needs- Polos, Ups and Golfs to travel to meetings, 7 seater Tourans if you’re travelling in a group and vans to transport equipment.
 
How do I use a vehicle?
 
1. Join - Apply online, we’ll call you back to confirm your driving license details.
 
2. Reserve - Book online or via our free iPhone and Android apps for as little as an hour or a whole day. We're easy.
 
3. Unlock - Walk up to your vehicle, hold your Zipcard on the windscreen (or tap your mobile app), and you're in.
 
4. Drive - Take the keys from the glovebox and drive away, returning it to the same space when you're done. It's that simple.

Need to use a vehicle for work purposes?

When you need to use a vehicle for business trips such as meetings, site visits or events, there are Zipcars located at your offices reserved for Council use only between 8am and 6pm.
