There are few greater pleasures than driving. But when we say driving, we don’t always mean the slow and pragmatic pace that rules city streets. If you’re a thrillseeker, there’s nothing quite like UK driving experience days: all roaring engines, full-throttle steering and speedometers that hit 60 mph in just a few short seconds.

Sound appealing? Take the chance to get your adrenaline pumping during one of the UK’s top track driving days out. From world-renowned circuits to supercar sessions, these five outings are as suitable for speed freaks as they are for first-timers, and are within easy access of Zipcar bases in London, Maidstone and Bristol. Simply hop in your Zipcar and motor over for a high-octane day out: just make sure to stick to the speed limit on your way there.

Silverstone Circuit

If you’re at all interested in motor racing, Silverstone Circuit will sound more than a little familiar. One of the favourite UK driving experience days, Silverstone is the home of the British Grand Prix and a favourite track of drivers like Jenson Button. But you don’t need to be a Formula One pro to get a first-hand feel for the course. The track also hosts a wide range of track driving experiences that cater to motorists of all levels: beginners can register for a Rookie Drive Experience or Skid Control course, while the more advanced can take a turn behind the wheel of an Aston Martin, sign on for the all-day Silverstone Challenge, or make like a film star with a stunt driving session.

Brands Hatch

Dating back to the 1920s, the Kent-based Brands Hatch circuit has a legendary place in motorcycle and automotive racing history, and has even been labelled by Formula One driver Gerhard Berger as the best circuit in the world. Get a feel for the track’s dips and corners with several different driving sessions. One, the M3 Master, sees participants go for a high-speed spin in a BMW. Those after something especially memorable can sign up for the Racemaster course, meanwhile: included in the itinerary is time behind the wheel of an F1-style single seater.

Lamborghinis. Ferraris. Aston Martins. If supercars are your thing then don’t miss the chance to try out a world-class automobile at the Thruxton Motorsport Centre. On offer are some of the latest and most in-demand models – like the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster and the Ferrari 458 Spider – all of which will be driven on the course’s 2.4-mile track. While most of us aren’t millionaires who can actually afford to bring one of these beauties home, this is an incredible opportunity to live the dream for an hour or two.

Goodwood Circuit

The historic Goodwood Circuit, located in scenic West Sussex, is known for having hosted some of motor racing’s top drivers (Jackie Stewart, Jim Clark, Stirling Moss); these days, it also attracts crowds for its annual Goodwood Festival of Speed and retro-themed Goodwood Revival. For chance to take a spin on the circuit where so many professionals have raced before, sign up for a course that will put you behind the wheel of an E Type Jaguar, Aston Martin DB4, or another classic vehicle.

Castle Combe Circuit

Those based in Bristol are lucky to have the Castle Combe Circuit just a quick drive away. Though it’s used as a test track on some episodes of Top Gear, you don’t have to be the Stig to try out the high-speed circuit (and we mean high-speed – expect to zoom around in excess of 100 mph). A series of hosted racing experiences include a Ferrari White Knuckle Ride, rally driving courses, and time behind the wheel of a Lotus Elise. For would-be racing drivers, the Single Seater Driving Experience is about as close to the real thing as you can get.
