Back in May – a crew of students in Oxford decided to set themselves the crazy challenge of running from London to Rome.
Say What? Yes, you heard that right – they wanted to run from London, England to Rome in Italy – that’s over 1200 miles away. Those crazy kids spawned this hair brained idea in aid of raising money and awareness for the charity Access Sport – which tackles the social problems of poverty, gang culture and obesity – through sport. The plan was christened the Italian Jog. (geddit?)
We were impressed when the guys got in touch – asking for a vehicle and we were more than pleased to be able to support by donating two VW Golfs from our Oxford Fleet for the day so that the gang could undertake a practice run of their marathon effort throughout the Oxford countryside. Over the course of the day – the team of runners relayed for 12 hours over 72 miles– jogging alongside our Zipcars (which reached a maximum speed of just 6mph throughout the exercise!) allowing the guys to practice the logistics for the real thing in July.
Thanks guys and we hope the real thing went well!! For full details about the challenge visit www.theitalianjog.com
